Heritage Counts 2006
Heritage Counts 2006 is the fifth annual survey of the state of England's historic environment. The report identifies the principal trends and challenges facing the historic environment, with a particular focus in 2006 on the role that communities play by caring for and engaging in England's heritage, drawing on new evidence on who visits historic sites. Alongside this national report, a set of regional reports provides further detail on the state of the historic environment in each of the nine government office regions.

The Images of England project and the involvement of its volunteers was reported on in eight of the nine regional reports, as well as being included in the main report. It highlights the role it has played in helping revolutionise the delivery of heritage across the internet.
